In two hours, the first primary votes in a secret ballot election for President in American in 2020 will be cast for both Republicans and Democrats in New Hampshire. The Midnight 3 small towns (Dixville Notch, Millsfield, and Hart’s Location) will trumpet their results (about 75 votes in total) for all the World to hear, as an appetizer for the Full Monte New Hampshire vote tomorrow Tuesday February 11, 2020.

I am often these days reminded of one of the most haunting political religious confessions of the last 100 years. It was made in a speech given January 6, 1946 in a church in Frankfurt Germany by the Lutheran Pastor Martin Niemöller (1892-1984).
His words are searing, prophetic, timely, and pertinent.

There are many who can pretend to themselves this warning is overblown and little more than purple prose. A little history lesson about Niemöller’s personal history is not out of place.

Martin Niemöller was a German Lutheran pastor and theologian born in Lippstadt, Germany, in 1892. Niemöller was an anti-Communist and supported Adolf Hitler’s rise to power at first. But when Hitler insisted on the supremacy of the state over religion, Niemöller became disillusioned. He became the leader of a group of German clergymen opposed to Hitler. In 1937 he was arrested and eventually confined in Sachsenhausen and Dachau. He was released in 1945 by the Allies.
For those of you who style themselves as good Republicans, who will try and brush off the analogy that this cannot happen to good white citizens of the U.S. of A. in the Era of Trump.45’s degrading of American constitutional norms, your confidence is breathtakingly naïve.
After all, just 4 years ago, you believed our institutional guardrails would absolutely prevent any such disaster. Yet you have the spectacle of Graham and Cruz directly, gravely, and personally insulted by this petty Tyrant Wannabe. who now meekly comply and offer their throats and hindquarters for constant routine abuse without complaint.
It is shameful the rest of you have abandoned your common sense and fealty to your Oath to America in exchange for the false promise of re-election success.
If you think it won’t happen here in American in 2020, just play along as good little soldiers, and accept your Fate.
