First let’s shout out loud and proud. First Lady Melania Trump has just passed the primary test. Did she put the Nation above her personal comfort zone?

She is a mother and caregiver, not the plastic imitation we often get to view when managed by Trump Inc.

Here is her official White House statement issued this afternoon. In full, unedited:

It was two weeks ago when I received the diagnosis that so many Americans across our country and the world had already received—I tested positive for COVID-19. To make matters worse, my husband, and our nation’s Commander-in-Chief, received the same news.

Naturally my mind went immediately to our son. To our great relief he tested negative, but again, as so many parents have thought over the past several months, I couldn’t help but think “what about tomorrow or the next day?”. My fear came true when he was tested again and it came up positive. Luckily he is a strong teenager and exhibited no symptoms. In one way I was glad the three of us went through this at the same time so we could take care of one another and spend time together. He has since tested negative.

I was very fortunate as my diagnosis came with minimal symptoms, though they hit me all at once and it seemed to be a roller coaster of symptoms in the days after. I experienced body aches, a cough and headaches, and felt extremely tired most of the time. I chose to go a more natural route in terms of medicine, opting more for vitamins and healthy food. We had wonderful caretakers around us and we will be forever grateful for the medical care and professional discretion we received from Dr. Conley and his team. It was an unfamiliar feeling for me to be the patient instead of a person trying to encourage our nation to stay healthy and safe. It was me being taken care of now, and getting first-hand experience with all that COVID-19 can do. As the patient, and the person benefitting from so much medical support, I found myself even more grateful and in awe of caretakers and first responders everywhere. To the medical staff and the residence staff who have been taking care of our family—thank you doesn’t say enough.

Recovering from an illness gives you a lot of time to reflect. When my husband was taken to Walter Reed as a precaution, I spent much of my time reflecting on my family. I also thought about the hundreds of thousands of people across our country who have been impacted by this illness that infects people with no discrimination. We are in unprecedented times—and with the election fast approaching, it has been easy to get caught up in so much negative energy.

It also cheered me to think of all the people I have met across our country and the world—and the goodness and compassion that exists if you seek it out. Our country has overcome many hardships and much adversity, and it is my hope COVID-19 will be another obstacle we will be able to tell future generations we overcame—and learned from in the process.

I encourage everyone to continue to live the healthiest life they can. A balanced diet, fresh air, and vitamins really are vital to keep our bodies healthy. For your complete well-being, compassion and humility are just as important in keeping our minds strong. For me personally, the most impactful part of my recovery was the opportunity to reflect on many things—family, friendships, my work, and staying true to who you are.

I am happy to report that I have tested negative and hope to resume my duties as soon as I can. Along with this good news, I want people to know that I understand just how fortunate my family is to have received the kind of care that we did. If you are sick, or if you have a loved one who is sick—I am thinking of you and will be thinking of you every day. I pray for our country and I pray for everyone who is grappling with COVID-19 and any other illnesses or challenges.

Thank you to everyone who reached out, and offered well wishes and prayers for our family. You remain in ours as well.

Thank you Melania. God Bless. May you and your son both get entirely well, soonest.

What does It Signify?

Now let’s get to the Real Meaning for the Rest of the Country.

Trump.45 is lying again, and again, and again. He is such a Coward. A billionaire rich man, holding the most powerful office in the World, having the finest public health expert advice on the entire globe a mere gesture away 24/7, and the dumb son of a bitch can’t even manage to protect his wife and son.

His reckless conduct could be reliably predicted and expected based on history, but you would think he might give a damn about the health of his intimate family members. He didn’t. Proof in the Positive Tests Pudding. No FAKE NEWS here, Pal.

What has Trump.45 done for the last 2 weeks? He’s covered it all up, again. Tried to Slide By. Made it all about him. Staged an Eva Peron WH balcony return. A reckless drive by waverama when he was hospitalized and infectious. Imagined a Superman T Shirt stunt for the cameras; had to be talked out of it by appalled staff. Still thinks it was a Boffo idea Made for TV.

Trump.45 has now returned to the road every day for his campaign cocaine rallies, maskless, not socially distanced, feckless, reckless, super spreader events. The only decent thing about them is that at this point after 8 months of Pandemic, only Trump Kool Aid drinkers would show up within ½ mile of them, so the COVID-19 nasty little bug gets a preferentially Republican voter menu selection to feast upon. It’s not like everybody else hasn’t warned them off, over and over. At this point, those stalwarts who show up in-person deserve whatever health consequences they suffer. Still, it’s genuinely too bad for wives, children, parents, and innocent neighbors and co-workers.

Anyway, Trump is just getting wound up for his third in a row travel rally this week, working up to perhaps as many as 6 campaign events per day the last week. A glorious retread rerun of 2016, this time with Air Force One as a proper symbolic publicity backdrop. And perhaps a Skinny Rabbit Out of a Threadbare Hat of Trump Tricks.

As his mighty campaign plane is just getting to takeoff speed but still earthbound on the runway, there she goes and quietly blows up the right engine.

No rancor. No TV, no reporters, no taped conversations with friends. Not a Harsh Word.

It is possible to imagine that she didn’t even tell him she was going to go all quietly official on a White House print comms channel. Hard to believe he knew about her plan, and just let it drop as he was getting on a plane to another rally in Des Moines at 6 PM Central time.

October 2020 has not been kind to Trump.45.

There was his Positive Covid Diagnosis. There was a crap debate performance. Barr went rogue and ditched the Bash investigation with no charges, no report. His fundraising got killed. He’s behind not only in the national polls, but also the state specific ones he actually needs, by a bunch. ACB is not dominating headlines. Mail In and Early Votes around the entire country are breaking records every day on local news. Basically the general political environment plain sucks.

And now Melania lands one stiletto footed kick flush on his tender parts with a great warm up and follow thru, and with a COVID-19 twist at the finish.

My on My, that hurts the Privates. Even at a Great Distance.

Trump.45, being the champion shrugger-offer that he is, will undoubtedly have some smart comeback. Like the Dark State. Hillary Did it. It’s Jeff Session’s fault; Indict Comey.

But you know “Lock Her Up” just doesn’t have the same zing when you are talking about your own wife, currently living in the White House.

There have been stories before about Melania’s intentions in early 2017, when she stalled the move from New York. Since she is clearly a smart woman in the European tradition of dealing with faithless husbands, and considering the fact she has already put in 15 years in Trump.45’s marital salt mines, I strongly suspect she has her pre-nup and financial settlement affairs in golden good order already.

Trump.45 has indicated in the last day or so he’s not sure he wants to keep Barr around. Because he’s not at all happy. Think Barr times 10 Million, unhappiness-wise.

Fate occasionally having an exquisite sense of humor, wouldn’t it be nice to contemplate Trump.45 getting the marital heave ho a few weeks after receiving his White House eviction notice from the huge votes of the American people.

With Trump.45 anything can happen. But this October just got way suckier than it was yesterday. And there is no James Comey to kick around about it.

You talk about your October Political Surprise? Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!!

Well said, PFC Gomer Pyle, USMC.

Trump’s current steaming portion is fairly earned, fairly deserved. And 100% on his Own Head.

God Bless America.
